| For Low Cost Social Housing, Emergency Relief Housing Shelter for Refugees or Displaced Persons Low Cost Alternative for the Homeless |
SUMMARY:
Nu-Tech has developed low cost emergency relief housing and low cost social housing for instant response whereas our panels can be ready to ship anywhere in the world where natural and man made disasters have left residents homes, with the only alternative is to live in tents or in the open, with no sanitary facilities, safe drinking water, utilities, leading to chaos, despair and unsanitary conditions. We can also ship pre-fabricated medical clinics and hospitals to treat the wounded and sick. A good example where our technology could have solved the homeless problem within days after the disaster is Haiti, Chile, Pakistan and other countries worldwide. Our modular wall panels and proprietary construction technology can erect hundreds of these low cost structures, pre-engineered and built at our factory in South Carolina, and in satellite factories planned for Jamaica, Ghana, Tanzania, Kuwait, can meet the demand instantly as we maintain sufficient inventory of panels to ship within 24 hours, to be assembled on site.
We have several house plans that can be built for under between $4,900 and under $10,000 and several floor plan models that have ample floor space for large families for under $18,000.
Each unit comes complete with electrical wiring, plumbing and bathroom fixtures. Each bedroom or sleeping area includes a ceiling fan, as well as the living room area. Windows are made with anodized aluminum frames with insect screens. Flooring is finished with glazed tile or concrete.. Kitchen cabinets, sink and gas stove are not included, but can be sold for a modest upgrade in cost, to include a 20 gallon hot water tank using gas, although we can convert to electricity. Roofing is built with pre-fab trusses made out of composite carbon fiber materials, the same as with the framing studs which are 10 times stronger than steel and 32 times stronger than the 2 X 4 wood frames. We use 30 pound felt underlayments, galvanized drip edge, roof sheating with Certain Teed composite asphalt shingles. In areas which are prone to hurricanes and tornadoes, the roof is bolted to the foundation with cables, because as long as the roof is intact, the house will not be destroyed by hurricane winds (price for hurricane proofing is not included in the price quoted). That is an important feature, because the house is not only waterproof, fireproof, insect and fungus proof, but also is able to withstand earthquake shock of up to 7.0 magnitude.
Nu-Tech Building Systems has been working and developing new concept designs for a low cost emergency relief housing that can be transported to the project site and assembled in eight (8) hours by 6 unskilled workers, ready for occupancy in most instances for housing units under 70 square meters. When no longer needed, the emergency shelters can be disassembled and stored until it’s needed again. Our Emergency Relief Housing Program can be used to house refugees, as temporary shelter during natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and other calamities, whether it’s caused by nature or man.
This is a low cost alternative as our shelters are built with fiber cement modular panels with a honeycomb core and assembled using steel screws, not nails, so that it can be dismantled and used over and over whenever needed. Our structures are 35 times stronger than any conventionally constructed building, and 10 times stronger than any reinforced concrete structures. Our structures are also completely fireproof, mold proof, waterproof, and provides excellent insulation against heat and cold, and can be used for years and years because of its strength and durability without structural degradation over a 50 year period. The composite framing studs are 10 times stronger than steel, and because they have some flex in them, the construction is ideally suited to withstand earthquakes. Our STRUCURALCOMB™ modular panel weighs only 120 pounds, therefore, even if the building collapsed, there would be no fatalities because of the lightweight materials which are far stronger than the concrete block or reinforced concrete typically used to build housing in third world countries.
The standard unit is 24 by 24 feet (7.92 by 7.92 meters) with an 8 foot ceiling (2.64 meters) with a total of 576 square feet (55 square meters) of living space. In cases where it is not feasible or cost prohibitive to provide sanitation in each unit, we can build communal bathrooms and showers to provide sanitary facilities for the residents living in these camps. Composting toilets can be used to minimize health risks from cesspool and septic tanks.
Our modular wall panel technology is design friendly and we can work with any design that may be submitted by client/architect/builders. A flatbed truck can transport enough panels to assemble 6 modular shelters to a project site, thus making it far more economical to transport versus pre-fabricated homes or the mobile trailers used by FEMA, which have a much higher acquisition cost, are more expensive to maintain, transport, are not structurally as strong as our units, requires more space to store, and don’t have the durability compared to our units. Our technology of building panelized homes is far superior in quality and durability to the cement block structures, which, in third world countries, is the most common form of building. These structures are unstable in adverse weather, and the cement is not cured or waterproof, thus subject to mold and the ugly look of wet, dirty cement which makes it look bad and depressed.
The foregoing are renderings and floor plans of low cost emergency relief housing that can be shipped on a 48 hour notice (subject, of course to availability of surface and maritime transportation.
